There's absolutely no doubt that having a Barn Dance Band or Ceilidh Band come and play for your wedding evening party is the best way to get all your family and friends mixing together, having a terrific fun evening. All ages can be involved as the Caller will select appropriate dances which are suitable for everyone so youngsters, grannies and aunties can all dance a reel or a jig, a waltz or a polka or even a step-hop hornpipe with the best of them! The Caller who comes with the band puts everyone at ease, explains all the steps to everyone before the music is let loose on you, so even if some of your guests have never been to a wedding ceilidh or a wedding barn dance before, your evening party will be commented on by your guests for many a day afterwards as the whole day will have been made extra special with this form of entertainment for the evening. Far better than having a disco all night, although it does actually work fine to have a DJ or Ipod of contemporary music for later on, after the Barn Dance or Ceilidh has finished, if you wish to have a longer party.

How long is the band available for?
Which ever Ceilidh or Barn Dance band comes to play for your wedding evening, the band will usually offer up to about 3 hours of entertainment. The band would take a mid-way break, during which time some background recorded music may be played through the band's PA system, if you want to cover the break time when the band isn't playing.
Some people have the ceilidh or barn dance for the first part of their wedding party, booking a DJ for later, or arranging their own laptop and Ipod of music, which works fine. Do we have to dance all night? All bands and callers are aware that you will want to chat to family and friends so you won't be obliged to dance every single dance, but the more you join in, the more your guests will follow suit and fill the floor with dancers all night.
